What are HSA and FSA accounts?

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) let you set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible health-related expenses. If you're unsure whether you have one, we recommend checking with your employer or insurance provider.

How does using my HSA/FSA account save me money?

Because HSA/FSA funds are not taxed, you can save up to 30% on eligible health purchases—depending on your income tax rate. Instead of paying taxes and then buying a product, you're using tax-free money, giving you more value for your dollar.

How much can I contribute each year?

HSA: Up to $4,150 for individuals / $8,300 for families(plus $1,000 more if you're 55 or older). FSA: Up to $3,200(plus up to $500 in employer contributions)

Can I use my HSA/FSA card at checkout?

Yes, if you see Truemed listed at checkout, simply select it and pay with your HSA or FSA card. If your card is declined, you can still pay with a regular card and submit for reimbursement later.

What if Truemed doesn’t show up as a payment option?

Make sure you're checking out as a guest and not signed in with Shop Pay. Truemed only works in guest checkout mode.

What if my HSA/FSA card doesn’t work?

Can I still use Truemed if I don’t have enough HSA/FSA funds?

Yes. You can use whatever balance is available and reimburse part of your purchase. For example, if your order is $100 and you have $60 in your HSA/FSA, you can claim reimbursement for that $60.

What if I don’t have an HSA/FSA account?

You’ll need an HSA or FSA to use Truemed. If you’re eligible, we recommend checking with your employer during open enrollment about setting one up.

Can I use Truemed if I live outside the U.S.?

Unfortunately, Truemed is currently available only to customers in the United States.

I’ve already taken the health survey. Do I need to do it again?

If you’ve already received a Letter of Medical Necessity for a specific product, you don’t need to take the survey again unless the letter has expired. LMNs are typically valid for 12 months.

How do I submit for reimbursement?

If you paid with a regular credit card (instead of an HSA/FSA card), Truemed will email you the necessary documentation. Submit the receipt and LMN to your HSA/FSA provider to be reimbursed.

What if my reimbursement is denied?
