How Much Space Do I Need to Use the Assist+ on Stairs?Updated 14 days ago

To operate the TreadLyft Assist+ safely and effectively, you’ll need a few key clearances based on the device’s climbing range and locking mechanism.

Stair Width:
The Assist+ works on most standard residential stairs. You'll need stairs that are at least 30 inches wide (76 cm) to ensure safe operation.

Landing Space (Top of Stairs):
Allow at least 36 inches of flat landing space at the top of the staircase. This gives you enough room to turn, align, and begin descent with control.

Wheelchair Fit Range:
The Assist+ securely clamps onto most manual folding wheelchairs with a rear wheel width between 20.4 and 30.2 inches. Always measure your wheelchair’s rear axle width, not just the seat.

Stair Angle:
The device is designed for staircases with an incline of 35° or less.

If you're unsure whether your staircase or wheelchair setup is compatible, feel free to contact us at [email protected] or send a photo of your stairs.
